Yesterday I got featured at Youth Opportunities, an opportunity discovery platform that is working worldwide and has been also awarded several International Prizes for its contribution to Youth Development.
The journey started last year in October 2020, and I joined as a Translator and Linguist in their Bangla team. The main responsibility given to me was translating the English language post to Bangla language, whether it may be Computer-aided translation or it could have been manual translation. In the Bangla department, all the posts needed to be maintained and published in the Bangla language, especially translating 6 posts every week in Bangla language was allocated for each of the team members, and it needed extensive editing for clear delivery. However, with the opportunity I got there, I utilised many applied models of translation, including Machine Translation. One of the biggest issues using the machine translation with those website posts was mistranslating the fragments and the clausal parts hanging with the sentences, which were especially coming from different academic competitions or other global competitions intended for youth. However, I not only tried Google translation but also various other applications. Google translation for those complex paragraphs is very down toward in its performance, although Google has developed bigger NLP projects for human language and machine interaction. The translation tool from Microsoft, Bing translator works better than Google Translate. There are many other tools used by me in the process, especially to get to know how Machine Translation algorithms code could have been built and I found many models of Machine Learning in machine translation codes in GitHub, which are designed by different Scholars working in the field. However, I also worked with Bangla language assistance at Youth Opportunities, for example- preparing the Bangla version of the policy paper proposed to the Government of Bangladesh by Youth Opportunities in the year 2020 needed extended copy editing proofreading and copywriting from a skilled Bangla language editor. as a link that contributed as much as I could to that project. I also worked with Bangla subtitling videos for the opportunity which were part of the national victory day campaign 2020. very recently I worked with the intern and campus Ambassador recruitment project at Youth Opportunities, via I translated all the captioning songs of the Bangla promotional campaign. In my other post, I would be elaborating on the Machine Translation algorithms I worked with, this post is just a glimpse, as they have considered me to be FEATURED at their promotional campaign amongst 11 working team Members at YO Bangla Team.
